Lopez named Undersheriff By Matt Rexroad on Monday, January 22, 2007 @ 7:09 PM :: 0 Comments :: Blog   On Saturday night at the retirement dinner for two long time employees, Sheriff Ed Prieto announced the appointment of Captain Tom Lopez as Undersheriff.  This is a big deal and will play a big role in the political future of Yolo County. Lopez immediately becomes the front-runner in the race to replace Sheriff Ed Prieto when he retires -- when ever that may be.  Many people in the Sheriff's department were looking to this choice as the candidate Prieto was likely to support to replace him at some point in the future. I do not know Undersheriff Lopez well but when he gets a standing ovation from the people present at the retirement party for the former Undersheriff and a Captain -- that is a pretty good sign. Woodland City Councilman and Sheriff Lt. Jeff Monroe was also someone considered a candidate for this post.
