School Board Elections

So I took out my absentee ballot tonight. It was easy to vote.
Cirenio, Evis, and Carol will not get shut out. They all got my vote.
Here is my concern. My candidates are not going to win easily.
These kinds of elections are largely decided by a couple things like the name of the candidate and the ballot designation they choose.
Yolo County Board of Education
Cirenio has an advantage because he is at the top of the ballot. That is balanced against the fact that his ballot designation is "incumbent". That is not good. His opponent, Cecelia Calmes lists "Educator". That is a good one when you are running for school board.
Neither candidate submitted a ballot statement. That is something every candidate should do.
I hope Cerenio is out working. I want the guy to win.
Woodland School Board
Carol and Evis are the two bottom candidates on the Woodland ballot. That is a tough one.
Carol has great name ID. She should be the top vote getter among these candidates. She has a proven track record of accomplishment in Woodland. She also choose "incumbent" as her ballot designation. That won't help.
So in this race Carol was the only one to submit a ballot statement -- and she did it in English and Spanish. The others didn't. Rosario Ruiz-Dark has very expensive full color signs all over town with her picture on them but did not put in a ballot statement. That seems strange.
We will see. I hope Carol and Evis pull it off.

I wished Carol Sousa Cole would have taken the time to answer my question about SB 777 - The bill that will allow boys who think they might be gils in to the girls locker room. I have asked her 3 times....no reponse.

SB 777 Referendum FAQ referendum and ways to get involved.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is a referendum? A referendum is "the practice of referring measures proposed or passed by a legislative body to the vote of the electorate for approval or rejection." In other words, if the legislature and governor approve a law such as SB 777, the people may step in and, via the ballot process, reverse the decision.
By filing the SB 777 referendum with the attorney general, CRFI seeks to bring SB 777 before the people of California for vote. The vast majority of Californians are shocked when they learn of SB 777's purpose. We believe that if it is brought before the people, it will be overturned.
Why is a referendum necessary for SB 777? SB 777 by Senator Sheila Kuehl (D-Santa Monica) is the most blatant and egregious assault on traditional family values that CRI has witnessed in our 20 years of serving families in the capitol. Under the guise of "protecting" homosexual youth from "discrimination and harassment" in public schools, SB 777 actually advances a radical sexual agenda on children as young as 5 years old.
According to the language of SB 777, "no teacher shall give instruction nor shall a school district sponsor any activity that promotes a discriminatory bias because" of homosexuality, transexuality, bisexuality or transgender status.
The vague language of this bill could be interpreted to mean that instruction that only features a mom and dad or traditional family would be "promoting a discriminatory bias" against homosexual couples. It would promote "heterosexism" to only show male and female couples, without equal time for homosexual, transsexual and transgender "families". A school sponsored activity includes sports activities, prom, and other "gender specific" gatherings facilitated by the school.
Proponents of this measure argue that CRFI is extrapolating absurd conclusions from the language of the bill. In reality, CRFI is merely publicizing policies that have already been implemented in Los Angeles Unified School District regarding transgender students.
According to LAUSD's web site, if a male perceives himself as a female, he must be granted access to female locker rooms and restrooms. He must be allowed to participate in female sports activities. If the student wishes to keep his sexual status from his parents, the teachers and administration must refer to the masculine pronoun (him/he) when talking to the parents and use the feminine pronoun (she/her) at school. This shocking policy treats parents as the enemy of the transgender student. Teachers are expected to abet the student in keeping vital information from parents.
The disingenuous proponents of SB 777 argue that the bill simply "streamlines" the law and helps "protect" homosexual and transgender youth from bullying. However, such issues of bullying and harassment could be solved by enforcing discipline in the classroom, regardless of its victim's races, religion, sexual orientation, etc. In addition, the California legislature already passed AB 537 (Kuehl) that prohibits discriminating against or harassing a student based homosexuality or transgender status.
CRFI believes that this is the line in the sand for California families. We cannot abandon our public schools to the radical extremists bent on turning schools into sexual indoctrination centers. The goal of these zealots is to desensitize our youth to "alternative" lifestyles and "reeducate" them in the "tolerant" government schools.
While it would be easy to simply remove our own children from public schools, we would be abandoning the millions of innocent children that will be our future neighbors, co-workers and fellow voters. This issue is about our culture as a whole-should be abandon it to the radical elements or will we stand and fight for the future of the family, not just in California for families everywhere. We know you share our passion for preserving the values on which our country was founded. That is why NOW is the time to take action!
When can I start collecting signatures? In order to qualify the referendum for the ballot, we will need roughly half a million (500,000) valid signatures of voters. All initiative and referendum campaigns must hire signature gatherers to obtain this huge number of signatures. Once we receive our referendum title and summary from the attorney general, we will have just 90 days to collect the half million signatures. That is why it is crucial that we enlist the financial support to hire signature gatherers.
We also need volunteer signature gatherers. Please e-mail Meredith Turney mturney@capitolresource.org and she will add your name and contact information to our growing database of volunteers. Once we have the petitions, we will contact our volunteers with instructions on how to gather signatures in their communities.
How much will this referendum cost? We need approximately half a million signatures. It costs about $1 for every signature. That means we need to raise $500,000 in order for the referendum to succeed. We need every single pro-family supporter to donate $25 in order to meet our budget. If you can give more than the $25, we will gratefully invest it into the referendum campaign.
How can I collect signatures? As soon as we have our title and summary, we will have petitions prepared for signature gathering. Please contact Meredith Turney mturney@capitolresource.org to add your name and contact information to the volunteer database. You will then receive instructions on how to collect signatures. The process of receiving the title and summary and preparing the petitions could take several weeks to stay tuned to CRFI's e-mails for the latest information.
Please be patient with us! Due to the enormous amount of phone calls and e-mails we have received, we may be unable to personally respond to each one. Please know that we are listening to and reading each contact and value your support. The most efficient use of our limited staff is to reply to everyone via our e-mail list. If you have more specific questions that are not addressed in the e-mails, please patiently wait for a response.
The O'Reilly Factor Reminder:
Karen England will appear on The O'Reilly Factor tonight on Fox News Channel to discuss SB 777.
