Board Meeting on Tuesday

I went through the agenda for the Board of Supervisors and the Housing Authority yesterday.
We have several important items but not many exciting ones.
- Memorial Day Resolution - It says "soldiers". That always gets me. I am sure that US Marine Jimmy Arroyave and Navy SEAL Neil Roberts did not consider themselves "soldiers". I am going to try to find some alternate language for that. You can read the proposed resolution here.
- We have a update to the county fee schedule. Lots of stuff in there. Nothing seems completely nuts.
- We have several transportation items in the afternoon. We are going to talk about certifying our county road miles and widening the bike lanes on Road 99 (West Street) between Road 27 and 29. Duane Chamberlain will certainly support this. He favors bike lanes because it makes it easier to move farm equipment.
- The Housing Authority agenda has nothing really exciting except that it's in a tough financial position.
If you have any questions or comments -- call or e-mail. |

Matt, on item #1 (Memorial Day Resolution) you are exactly correct!!!! You would never call a Sailor a Soldier…..You would never call an Air Man a Sailor….You would never call a Marine any of the prior unless it is ‘Soldier of the Sea’. A soldier means Army.
The correct verbiage would be “Soldiers, Sailors, Air Men and Marines of Yolo County”……or perhaps……….”Yolo Counties members of the Armed Services”…There is also the Coast Guard and they need to be remember too because once they are nationalized in time of war…they to become members of the Armed Services.
Semper Fi….Always a Faithful…Always a Marine!!

It should read Soldiers, Sailors, Airman, Marines and Guardsmen. That is my two cents for what its worth....Now change it!

What about some name that makes sure to completely dissasociate their orders from the person that gave them? I.e., some nomenclature which ensures complete delineation from the orders of the "worst president in history"? Something like, "soldier/airman/marine 'acting under the auspices' of George Bush Jr."?

YoloVoter...Really? Worst President (?)....What does Jimmy Carter or Perhaps Andrew Johnson have to do with the above? And do you have any experience, 'what-so-eve'r with military service, military life or have you ever been in Combat? I doubt it.... I have…and I understand Matt’s concern. Charlie-san

I don't need to have military experience to call him the worst president in history. I'm a citizen. Further, most intellectuals in America have already agreed upon that fact. Starting a preemptive war based upon public trust stemming from 9/11 (even though Iraq had nothing to do with it) then completely BOTCHING it to the point of absolute absurdity? That's not a bad president. That's a complete IDIOT.

By the way, I just had to add...You're a soldier or whatever, right? If you're such a tough guy, why can't you take a little criticism of the war? You signed up for the military. Nobody forced you at gunpoint. You knew very well you might be put into a postioin to fight a war nobody supports. Don't cry about "supporting the troops." Don't try to appeal to American's emotions saying they "haven't been there." Because you know what? That's a completely fallacious argument and a total red herring. We don't need to be. The military serves the United States, not the other way around.
And further...Your protestations sound like a guilty conscience.

Gosh...Yolovoter....I had to look that word up
Main Entry: pro•tes•ta•tion Pronunciation: "prä-t&s-'tA-sh&n, "prO-, -"tes- Function: noun: the act of protesting : a solemn declaration or avowal
Laugh!!! Me Protesting?????....(now that is really funny)
I do have a 'solemn avowal' to support and defend the Constitution and follow the orders and directions of those appointed over me and respect our duly elected government (our President and our Congress)
Yolovoter.....I view you to be a somewhat naive person (but I am sure you are likely a very nice person…just a little naïve based on your prior blog comments-personal opinion)...and your ramblings do tend to lead others to think the same. Buts that’s OK...after all....It’s you right to say what you think and I am the first to defend that right.
But you really don’t know what you’re talking about when it comes to the military or why guys like me will risk our ‘necks’ (and lives) for what we believe in!
Charlie-san ‘the dumb hick farm boy’…LOL
PS...Have a nice day

YoloVoter, Would you be willing to debate the issue's you present here at a formal debate with an audiance present and possibly the WAVE TV? I would be delighted to engage in a debate over the present administration with you. What say you?
Charlie, if we can do this, I will webcast the event just for you!

She can get a job cleaning BH's hooka pipe. Just another MILHMF subversive hippy type. Maybe she could be the President of N.O.W. in Iraq and bring those women into the 21st century with all the rights and benefits of American women, right to drive, right to vote, right to own property, right to walk in public unescorted, almost seems like someone screaming at you from behind Gloria Steinem's skirt. Yikes! Maybe those Iraqi women would like to post something on Matt's blog about how they appreciate the chance to be free...eh?

How about a debate in the Democrat? I'm sure Jim Smith reads this blog. It'd be much less expensive, ideas wouldn't be clouded over by mispoken words or presentation, and i'm absolutely positive more people would read the debate in the paper than watch it on the "wave."

I'd pay for a front row seat to see this debate, ofcourse the cover charge would go to a charity drawn from a hat. I'd like to see lil Miss YoloVoter think on her feet. Get it put together and raise some money for charity. Almost as much fun as the "smokers" in bootcamp.

Hey Yolovoter, its the WAVE, or no go. I am willing to have my identity revealed, what about you? You can still bring the DD, I am sure Jim wouldn't mind seeing a good ol' fashion butt whipping. We can do this at one of the high school theaters. Just like Hannity, your gonna be my Colmes...LOL... You sure your up for this...I don't want this to be just a bunch a spin about the DNC talking points, I need real debatable material. If you plan on bringing the same ol' DNC spin, don't waste my time.

Actually, forget about it. I don't want to be associated with you. Not even as an adversary, not even as someone totally opposed to your viewpoints. To do so would be lower my own opinion of myself.

I offered a debate. And if I recall correctly, I was the one who stood up and threw the first punch. I didn't sit there and ruminate and say "oh no, no, don't do it!" like a girl. I was the one who started it. You only stepped in after everything was over.

Why don't you want to debate me, Duane? Are you afraid I'd destroy you and leave you laying tattered in little shreds? Oh, wait. You'd rather do it on the "Wave." Make sure nobody sees it, eh? I really think print media would reach a much larger audience. As a matter of fact, I have no doubt. If you're sure of yourself and your opinions, you'd get even greater recognition! Maybe you'd get someone to support the Iraq war.
You have to at least agree, wouldn't a debate in print reach more people? At least give me that. And if your views are so cogent, wouldn't they sway more people to your cause?

Duane...the real problem with this whole debate idea is creditablity...Yolovoter (so far as I know) is not a person that folks are going to care about hearing a debate with... NO ONE WILL TUNE IN!! So...lets just drop it... No one really cares...besides...this topic was about Vets and their Service....not YoloVoters foolish ideas. (in my humble opinion) Charlie-san
