When I was in graduate schools I read this great economic analysis on how the state lost millions of dollars each day I-10 was shut down. Bascially just take all the communter time, increase cost for fuel in longer routes for delivery trucks, on and on. It is millions of dollars.
Most all of the same facts are in place for the intercection that was destroyed last night by the fuel truck that melted the interchange in Alameda County. You can read more about it here.
The Governor needs to give someone an incentive based contract to fix this interchange. Each day that is saved in construction is worth millions. Give the contractor every incentive to work 24/7 to fix this problem. |
