Matt Rexroad has been an influential thread throughout the local, statewide, and national political design for more than 20 years. As both a founding partner at Meridian Pacific and a longstanding local government official, Matt’s dynamic creativity and distinctive personality, matched with experience and savvy, offers distinguishing leadership in political and public affairs campaigns.
Matt understands the realities of the political landscape and has experienced all the good and bad that it has to offer. He has been called a liberal and rightwing, insightful and naïve, genius and clueless – sometimes all in the same day. His consistency exists within his ability to make the best decision for his client or his constituents. Matt maintains a reputation as an amiable leader who treats people fairly and offers superb preparation. Known as a man of his word within local government – even by those who do not necessarily agree with him – Matt is a straight talker who sticks to his clear and direct word.
Currently serving as a Yolo County Supervisor, and having previously served as both Mayor and Vice Mayor of Woodland from 2002-06, Matt has extensive experience serving both the public and private sector. An evening phone call to Matt ranges from a constituent’s frustration over garbage service or park maintenance to emergency problem solving and analysis in a political campaign. Matt understands negotiating circumstances in which there is no simple solution. Matt was elected without opposition in 2010 to a second four-year term as Supervisor.
Matt’s benevolent support of his community and nation is evident through the sacrifices he has made. SSGT Rexroad served as a United States Marine for 13 years, including a deployment to Kuwait and Iraq in 2003 with 1st Force Reconnaissance. He spent more than five years as a Force Recon Operator with cross training in Intelligence and Embarkation. But Matt identifies the biggest difference he has made is as a two-time bone marrow donor, helping a young man, his “bone marrow brother” from Buffalo, New York, spend five more years with his family prior to his passing in 2001.
Following his return from Iraq in 2003, Matt co-founded Meridian Pacific Inc. with John Peschong and Tom Ross. They have reached their goal of building a successful company on the foundation of strong work ethic, integrity, and good people. Matt’s expertise with the Sacramento-based, award-winning public affairs firm includes background in California demographics, political trends, voter communications, public policy, and elected leadership. Matt is considered one of the leading experts in redistricting.
Matt earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California as well as a Juris Doctor from McGeorge School of Law. He is an active member of the California State Bar.
Matt and his wife Jenn live in historic Woodland with their two children Abigail and Adam.
